Larry was born in Rockingham County on September 1, 1956 to Ollie Stacey Madkins and the late Elie Madkins.  He was called to eternal rest in Lumberton, North Carolina on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.

He attended school in Ruffin, North Carolina and graduated from Ruffin High School in 1974, joining the U.S. Army soon after graduation.  Larry served honorably until his discharge several years later.

Growing up in the local area, Larry taught himself to draw.  Family members were in awe of his talent and were recipients of some of his masterful works of art which included drawings of Jesus, and family members.  Larry also learned to cook and treated many of his family members and friends with scrumptious dishes that he had put his special touch on.  He was able to turn his gift into a profession, graduating with a Culinary Arts Certificate while living in Lumberton, North Carolina.  Other employment opportunities included construction and long-distance trucking.

Larry was predeceased by his father, Elie Madkins and brother, Michael Madkins.

Those left to cherish precious memories are:  daughter, Natasha Hardison (David), of Winston-Salem, NC; son, Darryl Madkins, of Reidsville, NC; mother, Ollie Madkins, of Reidsville, NC; sister, Debra "Anita" Madkins Winchester (Rev.
