Obituary

Mr. Lamont Herbin passed on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC with family visitation one half hour prior to the service.  Burial will be conducted from Greenview Cemetery, Montgomery Street, Reidsville, NC and public visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at McLaurin Memorial Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Lamont Herbin was born on October 28, 1980 in Rockingham County to Rick Hatfield and Mary Herbin Hatfield. He attended Reidsville Senior High School (Class of 2000), where he was an avid athlete, especially in basketball.  Lamont acquired his CDLs and worked as a truck driver with Waste Management of Graham, NC.

Lamont had a larger-than-life personality; the only thing bigger was his wardrobe and shoe collection. He had a way of positively impacting all of those around him. It did not matter what trials Lamont faced because he chose to push forward and continued fighting the good fight.  He served as an inspiration to many as he shared his health journey online.

During his life, he was all about family, cooking, and capturing the moment.  He was a self-proclaimed photographer, taking pictures of himself or candid photos of others, whether you wanted to be captured or not!  He was always on "live" showcasing his prize-worthy meals, the latest family gathering, or filming from the truck.  His memory will live on from those pictures.

Above all else, he loved his son, Lamont Herbin, Jr. (better known as "Boobie"); to him, it was truly "Boobie's world."  He loved spending time with him, but more importantly, he wanted Boobie to feel loved and protected.  As a natural provider, he also shared this sentiment with his family.  He not only vocalized his love, but he constantly showed it.  When Lamont said, "I got you", we all knew that it literally meant "whatever you needed."

He was preceded in death by his father, Rick Hatfield.  Those left to cherish precious memories are:  his son, Lamont Herbin, Jr. of Reidsville, NC; mother, Mary Hatfield of Reidsville, NC; brothers, Ricky Herbin and Patrick Herbin both of Reidsville, NC and Orlando Hatfield of Burlington, NC; sister, Marione Lee of Burlington, NC; aunts and uncles, Bernice Herbin, Bessie Harden, Roy Herbin (Anna), Margaret Hatfield (James), all of Reidsville, NC, Leona Dove of Greensboro, NC, Cathy Crisp and Naomi Richmond (Coy), all of Burlington, NC; and an extensive family and friend circle.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family.

Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
