Obituary

June Swanston-Valdes, former Executive Director of the Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro, a United Way of Greater Greensboro Member Agency, made her heavenly transition on April 15, 2016.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reverend Paul Anthony Valdes, Sr. and is survived by her daughters, Dana Valdes Brooks (Zackary), and Hope Yvette Valdes; her 6 grandchildren who were the love of her life, her aunt and best friend, Josephine Thwaites, brother, Michael Swanston and her sisters, Patricia Glover (Mikell) and Stacey Holman, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of her life is Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer located at 901 East Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina at 12:00noon. The family visitation hour is at 11:00a.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Black Child Development Institute of Greensboro, Mae Swanston Book Scholarship at Bennett College for Women, or the Mae Swanston Food Pantry at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer.
