FREEHOLD, NJ - John Russell "Jack" Mayes Jr., passed away at age 90 on January 7, 2026. Jack was a lifelong resident of Freehold, NJ.

A veteran of both the United States Air Force and the New Jersey Air National Guard, Jack retired after 38 years of service in the New Jersey State Department of Corrections as a Lieutenant at Northern State Prison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Russell, and Rose Mayes Sr and his three sisters, Caroline, Doris, and Anna.

Surviving, are his wife Stella Fields Mayes (formerly of Ruffin, NC), his daughter Amber, his son Rusty (wife Mercedes), and grandsons Justin, Jason, and Pierce.

A memorial service and visitation will be held on March 14, 2026, beginning 10am at the Abundant Life Church of God, 632 Colts Neck Rd, Freehold, NJ.
