John Langston King, Jr. son of the late John L. King, Sr. and Louise Bolden King was born in Reidsville, N.C. on April 15, 1953 and transitioned from this life on Wednesday January 28, 2026 at his home surrounded by family members.  John left behind a family who adored him and a legacy that cannot be replicated.  John grew up in Ruffin, N.C. where he often told stories of running and playing with his older sister Theresa and his many cousins.  John attended Lincoln Elementary School. As a teenager, his family moved to Reidsville, N.C. where he attended Booker T. Washington High School and graduated from Reidsville Senior High School in 1971 ("Best Class Ever").  John played football and basketball during high school and was a School Bus Driver. In high school John met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with, Patricia (Gilmore). John would go on to attend N. C. A&T State University (Aggie Pride!) and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration.  After graduation, he accepted a position with General Motors in Anderson, Indiana where he was a Production Manager for 31 years.  After retiring from GM, he moved toGreensboro, N.C. in 2008.  Always being a hard worker, after retirement, he continued to work in a variety of jobs including Nestles, DELL, GKN, Harris Teeter, and The Tanger Center.

He was a wonderful, devoted husband to Patricia, sharing a life built on love, partnership, laughter, and deep respect. Together they had three sons, Damon, Nicholas ("Cheez"), and Ryan.   They created a family rooted in connection and strength; a home where love was always felt.  John was the kind of man who defined what it meant to be a father. His presence was steady, his love unmatched, and his devotion to his family unwavering. He showed up fully, consistently, and with his whole heart.  He wasn't just a father to his own three sons, he was a father to their friends, the countless little league players he coached, and the numerous Boy Scouts that he mentored.

John was a long time devoted member of Elm Grove Baptist Church. He loved and lived through his faith. He was a Senior Usher and a Trustee. He loved serving his church family.

John was a great friend, known for his humor, warmth, and unmistakable spirit.  He had a way of making people feel comfortable, valued, and loved. Time spent with him mattered, conversations lingered and laughter came easily. His presence filled a room without ever demanding it.  Who can forget his undying love to post about those "sorry {redacted} Cowboys"?

John is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia of the home; his sons Damon (Sarah) of Arcadia,Indiana, Nicholas (Brandy) of Greensboro N.C., and Ryan residing in Huntersville, N. C.; and his cherished grandchildren Mariah (Jared) Haynes, Phoenix King and Genesis King all of Indiana; Ava, Layla, and Noah King (Greensboro. N.C.) who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter," Winnie" Haynes of Indiana, a light that brought an extra sparkle to his smile.  In addition, his sister Theresa Bolden (Reidsville), nieces Vanessa Kennedy (Reidsville) and Angela Kennedy-Wilson(Larry) of Michigan, and great-niece Dominique Wilson(Michigan.)   He also had many close cousins and friends that he enjoyed spending time with and talking on the phone.
