Obituary

On Friday, July 29, 2016, God called his servant, Deacon John Dewood Dillard to his heavenly home.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Robinson Memorial United Holy Church with a visitation 11:30-12:00 noon prior to the service and burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
John was born in Rockingham County, NC on May 2, 1037 to the late John Anderson Dillard and Mary Scales Dillard. He was a graduate of Douglas High School and attended North Carolina A&T State University. Deacon Dillard retired from E.I. Dupont, Martinsville Va.

During his exemplary service as a lifelong member of Robinson Memorial United Holy Church, Deacon worked humbly and faithfully as an Usher, a Van Driver, a Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of both the Deacon and Trustee Boards.

He was preceded in death by his brother; Budd Thomas Dillard, sister; Jennette Dillard, who died shortly after birth.
Deacon Dillard was married to the late Camilla Rae Smith Dillard, and to that union he leaves behind to cherish his memories, five children; Johnathan D. Dillard (Mylinda), Carl J. Dillard (Elnora), Ryan O. Dillard and Reginald E. Dillard all of Eden, NC, Timothy Dillard (Angela), Tucson, AZ, four sisters; Doris (Henry Breakley), Danville, Va and Martha (Curtis Artis Sr.) Lucy (the late Leon Blackwell) and Judy (Curtis Morehead Sr.), all of Eden, NC, one brother; Freddie Dillard (Rosabelle) of Axton, VA, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Wednesday, August 3, 2016 fom 12:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home.
