Jermaine Tyrone McCain passed on February 9, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 15, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Hubbard St., with a visitation at 1:30 P.M.-2:00 P.M. prior to the service and burial to follow in Greenview Cemetery. Public viewing on Thursday from 2:oo P.M.-7:oo P.M.
Jermaine was born on February 4, 1992 to Patricia Slade Poteat and the late William Tyrone McCain, Sr., in Reidsville, North Carolina. Still celebrating his 27 th birthday, he left us too soon and went to his eternal rest on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital.
He attended schools in the Rockingham County School System and graduated in June of 2011 from Reidsville Senior High School. He participated in Track and Field as well as Football, but especially loved singing in the school's chorus with Mrs. Bell. He was a gifted vocalist and loved to entertain every chance he could. He was very popular and loved by everyone and was even elected Homecoming King during his Senior Year. Though Jermaine was most recently employed at Thompson Construction Company, he spent most of his free time with the two loves of his life – daughters, London and Jaylen McCain.
He is predeceased by his father as well as maternal grandfather – Novare Slade, Jr.; paternal grandfather – William Dickerson; and grandparents - Ernestine M. and Redolphus Cummings.
Loved ones left to share precious memories include: his daughters – London and Jaylen McCain, both of Reidsville, NC; mother and stepfather – Patricia and Michael Poteat; brothers – Eric Poteat (Briana) of Ft. Stewart, GA, William Tyrone McCain, Jr., Michael Poteat and Phillip Hairston, all of Reidsville, NC; aunts – Tarshia Slade, of Browns Summit, NC and Felicia Cobb (Donald),of Reidsville, NC; uncles – Keron McCain (Shawnta), Novare Slade, Jr., Steve Jones (Zanetta), and Eric Jones, all of Reidsville, NC; grandmother – Katherine Slade, of Browns Summit, NC; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
