"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our Lord God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8 (NIV)

A lover of flowers has been picked to be in the heavenly bouquet. The book of life entitled "Jeanette Bell McAdoo" opened Thursday, July 23, 1914 and the closing chapter ended early Friday, April 15, 2016.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with a visitation 1:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service and burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Jeanette was the first born of 12 children to the late Roy and Rosa Wright Bell in Rockingham County, NC. She was the oldest granddaughter of George and Missouri Bell. She leaves a legacy of great family values that includes a caring spirit and strong religious beliefs. She lived 101 years and 9 months. Jeanette was married to Ziglar McAdoo of Greensboro, NC. There were no children born to this union but she was mother to most of her 11 brothers and sisters. Then she continued that nurturing role with all of the nieces and nephews. She was a great storyteller and shared lots of family history.

Her love of God and her daily walk with Him was nurtured from an early age. She attended community churches and eventually became a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Reidsville. She was always in a servant role and faithfully dedicated herself to the service of God through her membership on the Usher Board, the Communion Stewards, the Senior Choir and the United Methodist Women. She set and maintained an example of a faithful and dependable Christian worker.

She was employed by Dick's Laundry. Dorothy G. Harrison, a family friend who also worked there, introduced her to a fellow employee, Ziglar McAdoo. He became Jeanette's future husband. They shared a great and enduring love. She then worked as a domestic engineer for the remainder of her employment life. In addition to cleaning and cooking, she help rear children of her employers. Soon after retiring she had conditions that left her disabled and eventually resulted in her being a patient at Penn Nursing Center for nearly 20 years. She was well known and respected and loved by friends and staff. She became the resident fashion and hair expert where she often shared her opinions on these matters.

Preceding her in death was her husband Ziglar McAdoo, her parents Roy and Rosa Bell, five brothers: George, Waddell, William, Malcus and Roland Bell and four sisters: Marion B. Maynard, Sadie B. Herbin, Louise B. Henderson, and Ruth B. Settle.

Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: are two brothers and their wives: Josephus (Mattie) and Albert "Boots" (Mildred) Bell and two sisters- in-law: Addie M. Bell and Mary Alice Bell all of Reidsville, NC. Over fifty nieces and nephews, numerous relatives, friends and faithful Caregivers of the Penn Nursing Center will keep her memory alive forever.
