Ms. Jeanette Yvonne Scott Armour, age 81, departed her life-long journey on earth and joined the Lord on Sunday, September 17, 2023 due to a brief illness. Her final days of preparation to move on were in the company of family at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. The p ublic viewing and family visitation will begin at 12 p.m.

Jeanette was born on October 9, 1941, in Virginia to the late George and Pearl Scott. She was raised in Jamaica Queens, NY.

Jeanette attended PS 116, IS 40 and graduated from Jamaica High School. In the earlier part of her career, Jeanette was employed for many years at Creedmoor Hospital in Queens NY and then transferred to St. Joseph Hospital, also in Queens, as a Dietary Food Services Cashier. She retired in 2006.  Jeanette raised her three sons in Hollis Queens, NY and when her mother Pearl had a stroke in 1984; Jeanette helped take care of her until she passed in 1991.

Jeanette loved to party, and she loved to watch every sport, but she especially enjoyed tennis and baseball.  She could tell you about any movie or television series.  She knew how to navigate her computer like a pro. She loved traveling to Atlantic City with her cousin Curtis and his wife Toni. She had a love of music and Patti Labelle was one of her favorites.  She loved her sweets and pot roast. Jeanette was one of a kind and one that will be missed by all tremendously! As she would say … talk to yalataaa!"

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl Scott, and her sister, Georgia Kelley and niece Michelle Kelley.

Jeanette leaves behind to cherish her memories her three loving sons: Anthony Armour (Janice), Gregory Armour (Dyanne) of NY, Tyrone Armour (Tanisha) of NC; six grandchildren, Carlotta, Christopher (Iyanna), LaKeea, Larisha, Lavar and Amoni; great grandchildren: Tiyana, Nyarie, Ciara, Jayla, Kimora, Chase, Nolan, and Noa; sisters, Debra Johnson of NC and Diane Bennett of NY; nephews and nieces, Mark Kelley (Jonna) of GA, Darlene Kelley of GA, Timothy Scott, Dwayne Johnson, Sharmaine Davis, Nicole Lynch (Gus) all of NC,  Sharlana Scott, Demedric Bennett of NY, great nieces and nephews, Marquis Kelley (Jenell), Khalil Kelley, RiJadah Lynch, Justin Davis, Jadah Monroe, Dahvion Davis, Josiah Scott and a host of other family and friends.
