REIDSVILLE - Mr. James Alvis Martin, age 82, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Public viewing will begin on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 12 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 1, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. from the McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 2 p.m. Pastor Hamid Kamara, eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

"Duke" as he was affectionately called was born in Rockingham County, NC on September 19, 1942 to Joseph Martin and Geneva Bailey Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James A. Martin, Jr.; siblings, Joseph B. Martin and Spencer Irvin Martin.

Survivors include son, Lorenzo Martin; sisters, Helen B. Hall and Lagretta M. Martin; brother, Jerome A. Martin (Alice); 2 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
