Obituary

Mr. Phillip James Artis Major was born in Pittsburg, PA on June 13, 1927 to the parents of the late Fred Major and Ophelia Major.

Survived is Eunice Thomas, his sister who lives in Alexandria, VA. His wife Mercedes Womble Major, brothers Fred Major, Jr., Thomas Major, Eugene Major and sister Elizabeth Major Fields preceded him in death.

Seven Grandchildren, Ryan Major, Durham, NC, Christopher Major, Durham, NC, Brandon Bailey-Harper, Alexandria, VA, DeTroy Bailey-Harper, Alexandria, VA, Kelysie Major of Wilmington, NC, Sarah Ann Stacey of Pinkerton, OH, Tony Britt, Reidsville, NC and one Great-Grand Ryan Major, Jr.

Children: Kevin Major, of Reidsville, NC, Lisa Major Bailey-Harper of Alexandria, VA, Anthony (Tony) Major of Durham, NC.

Mr.James Major was a long time member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church as the Minister of Music until he retired as well as the Reidsville City School System Choral Director for many years. He was a joy, an inspiration, a strong disciplinarian because he loved his students and only wanted the best from all he came in contact with.

Funeral services are going to be on Monday, November 11th at 1:00. Visitation will be 12:30-1:00 prior to the services. Celebration will be held at First Baptist Church, 401 Hubbard St, Reidsville, NC 27320. Flowers/Cards can be sent to McLaurin Funeral Home, 721 E Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC 27320
