Reidsville- Mr. James Dorse Williams "Pete" was born May 27, 1933 to the late Frances Mitchell Smith and Homer Alberto Williams Sr. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Hospice of Rockingham County.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 4, 2014 at West End Baptist Church, Reidsville, NC with a visitation 1:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will take place at Greenview Cemetery, Reidsville NC.
Pete was joined in Holy Matrimony to his loving and wife, AFrances Williamson Williams for forty eight years. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all.
Pete attended Booker T. Washington High School. He was a retiree of the Reidsville Police Department and the American Tobacco Factory. He served honorably in the U.S. Armed Services. Pete had a list of other jobs and services which he loved. God used Pete in an extremely special way to help the sick, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, not to mention an endless list of extensive love and contributions.
Pete was an active member of West End Baptist Church where he worshiped and served God and his community faithfully. He was a Trustee for 37 years, sang with the Mass Choir, Male Chorus, Senior Choir, and also served on the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by sisters; Gracie W. Dill, Katie Sue Williams Loften and Mae Frances Broadnax, brothers; Homer Williams Jr. "Tyne", Lester Floyd Williams and Alphonzo Williams "Big Chief" and Johnel Williams.
Leaving to cherish his memories are,his loving and devoted wife; AFrances Williamson Williams, children; James D. Williams Jr."Petie", Beverly Wilson "Winkie", Elvis L. Casey (Joyce), Cynthia Dianne Perkins-McNeil (Stanley) Tracy Matthews (Joseph), and very many special grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
