Jai Sajid Johnson, born January 28, 1968, unexpectedly departed this life on January 20, 2026. Though his time here ended short, the impact he made on the lives of those around him will continue to be felt for generations.
Jai was a beloved son, father, and brother whose presence brought warmth, wisdom, and strength to those who knew him. He was born to his loving parents, Rose Slade (William) and the late Eugene Morris, who instilled in him the values of resilience, compassion, and dedication to family.
Jai had many interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He loved fishing, listening to music, and dancing. Known for his smooth moves, Jai could break dance and moonwalk like no other, often entertaining family and friends with his rhythm and style. Another passion of his was cars and sound systems. He enjoyed building and showcasing vehicles and frequently entered his cars into car shows, where his hard work and creativity often earned him winning titles.
Later in life, Jai discovered a love for driving. This passion led him to pursue and earn his Commercial Driver's License (CDL), allowing him to begin a career driving tractor-trailers. He was proudly employed by Logex Transportation. Through this career, Jai was able to travel across the country, experiencing new places while doing something he truly enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Morris, his brother, William Galloway, grandmothers, Sophia McCain and Mary Morris.
He leaves to cherish his loving parents William and Rose Slade; his daughter, LaShay Wright (Antwan); his son, Quincey Robertson; and his beloved grandchildren, Kwincey Jaidale Robertson and Kyree Qu'Mel Robertson.
He is also survived by his siblings: Rozella Blackwell, Willa Barber (Rod), William Oscar Slade III, James Morris, Irvita Harris, Peggy Brooks, Sheray Ballentine (Brian), Shena Morris, and Devonta Morris.
Jai also leaves behind his former wife and loving best friend, Laurie "Ree Ree" Johnson, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and close friends who will forever remember his spirit, his laughter, and the joy he brought into their lives.
Though he is no longer with us in person, Jai Sajid Johnson's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His life serves as a reminder to cherish each moment, care for one another, and carry forward the kindness he so freely shared.
