Obituary

Mrs. Jacquita Ahronda Henderson Alexander, daughter of the late James C. Henderson and Mary L. Williams Henderson Tucker, was born September 28, 1951 in Cora, West Virginia. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning, November 12, 2017.
Memorial services will be Friday, November 17, 2017 at Zion Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be onr half hour prior to the services

She was educated at School 37 and graduated from East High School in Buffalo, New York.

She was a graduate of Medailla College, where she received her BA in Education; and subsequently, Jacquita earned a Master's Degree from Appalachian State University.

She was an employee of Southern Bell ("Ma Bell") for approximately 11 years. She also taught at School 56 in Buffalo, New York. After relocating to Reidsville, NC, she was employed by the Rockingham County School System, where she worked with Head Start, Moss Street Elementary School, and The Score Center.

Jacquita was an extremely active and faithful member of the Zion Baptist Church. She was the Sunday School Superintendent; a member of the Senior Usher Ministry; a Youth Advisor; a member of Mission Group Lydia; member of the Kitchen Committee; and the President of the ZBC Praise in Motion Dance Ministry. Jacquita helped to organize the tutorial program for kids at Zion Baptist Church, and worked diligently with that program. She loved working with young children. She constantly encouraged them to always do their best and strive to reach their highest potential. Her passion was teaching them to read and write.

She was also very active in the community. She was a member of the McLaurin Good Neighbors Association; the Community Flower Club; and the Downtown Senior Citizens' Club. Former member of the Order of the Eastern Stars Genesis Chapter #673, Greensboro, NC.

She leaves to cherish her memories sons, Jeffrey (Adrea) Alexander and Jovan Alexander; brothers, Jameel (Malcoma) Al'Amin and Omar Henderson; grandchildren, Taylor Owens, Maia Alexander, Jovan Alexander, Jr., and Janaya Alexander; great grandchild, Karter Brown; goddaughters, Yolanda Galloway and Tesha Harris, and a host of other relatives and friends.
