Obituary

REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Jacine Whitlock Bolden, age 93, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 22, 2024 at 2 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. Pastor David Callands, Sr., eulogist.

Jacine Elizabeth Bolden wa born October 31, 1931 in Eden, NC to Eliza And Reuben Millner. She attended Douglas High School in Eden, then matriculated at Bennett College, where she eared a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She embarked on a career of elementary school teaching at elementary schools in Mt. Airy and Reidsville, NC. As a teacher, she showed tremendous devotion to her students and worked tirelessly to increase parental involvement in the education of their children. She She retired form teaching after thirty years of outstanding service to learning.

Jacine enjoyed shopping, especially thrift and vintage shopping. She appreciated the history - the story - of the items she found, contemplating the life of the person who once owned this hat or that plate. She also relished in music, especially Jazz and the Blues.

She was selflessly devoted to family and home. She was a fiercely protective and loving mother to her daughter Karla and stepdaughter Jennifer Jean and an exemplary older sibling to her sisters. She took tender care of her mother, father, and sister when they could no longer care for themselves.

Jacine also took after her mother in public concern, becoming quite active in the Reidsville community. Among other involvements, she supported voter registration and served on the Parent Teacher Association.

Jacine was raised in the Primitive Baptist Church and was deeply spiritual. She routinely watched several services per day on her favorite religious channel. Her faith in Jesus Christ sustained her through her last days.

Jacine Bolden is preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Bolden; parents, Eliza and Reuben Millner; sisters, Rivers Okereafor and Susan Millner.

She is survived by her daughter, Karla Whitlock; stepdaughter, Jennifer Jean Malloy (Robert); sister, Gertrude Davis; niece, Shelley Davis (Omar); great-niece, Naima Davis McRoberts; great-nephew, Sage Davis McRoberts; brother-in-law, James I. Bolden (Dee); sisters-in-law, Anna Lee Brown and Myrna Arlene White; a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins. She shared a special bond with Paul Maurice Bolden, Jr., Valgene Brown Graves, Angela Hampton, Johnsie Thomas, Rachel Smith and Irene Sizemore, who were ever present in her life.
