Irvin Junious Blackwell, son of the late Deacon Junious Irvin Blackwell and Frances Powell Blackwell, transitioned this life on Wednesday August 17, 2016 at his home. He was born in Reidsville, Rockingham County North Carolina on January 22, 1940.
He was united in Holy Matrimony on July 13, 1968 to Gladys Earlene Motley.
The Lord blessed their union with six sons.
He became a member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church at an early age and a member of the Elm Grove Gospel Choir.
Although quiet in his worship and service to God, he loved his church and church family. Also under the leadership of his father he obtained a wealth of knowledge regarding matters of the church.
Irvin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great, great grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved gardening, planting, and watching all things grow. Having a love for the land was instilled into his sons also.
He was gainfully employed for 43 years at Cone Mills Corporation (White Oak Plant) and retired May 4, 2002.
He is preceded in death by parents, Deacon Junious I. Blackwell and Sister Frances P. Blackwell, brother, SMSGT (Retired) James D. Blackwell, and son William Roger Bass Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories; Wife Mrs. Gladys M Blackwell.
Sons: SMSGT (Retired) Tyron I Blackwell and fiancé, Dionne Autry of Tucson, Arizona.

Michael Bass (Darlene); and Johnny Bass (Mae) of Reidsville NC.

The Great Great Grandchild: Jordyn Barnes
Brother, Larry E. Blackwell (Betty), and Sister, Delores Blackwell Jones of Reidsville, NC. Two aunts: Mrs. Edna P Withers and Mrs. Elsie P Cobb (Freeman) of Reidsville, NC; and Sister-in-Law, Mary A. Blackwell of Tampa, FL.
