Ms. Irene Thompson passed on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Annie Penn Hospital.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the McLaurin Memorial Chapel with family visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m.

Born Irene Thompson on June 3, 1945 to Carrie and Isaac Thompson in Alamance County, North Carolina, she went to her eternal rest on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.  Irene attended and graduated from Central High School in 1965 in Graham, NC, and worked in farming and agriculture all of her life.  Irene's hobbies included reading and expanding her vocabulary with puzzle books.

She was a member of the United House of Prayer in Reidsville, NC and often quoted some of her favorite scriptures, including "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want".  Many times, she could be heard just saying "God is good!"

In addition to her father, four children - Jerry Lynn, Cory Lynn, Anthony Lynn and Tammie Lynn; two sisters – Mary Lynn and Linda Bunting; and one brother – Raymond Thompson, all preceded her in death.

Loved ones left to share precious memories include:  her mother – Carrie Thompson, of Elon College, NC; sisters – Doris Lynn and Shirley Ford (Jimmy), all of Reidsville, NC;  one brother – Isaac Thompson, Jr., of Reidsville, NC; grandchildren – Tammie Lynn and Tacorya Lynn, both of Florida, Angelica Lynn, Bryce White and Jeremiah White, all of Reidsville, NC, and Izellia Lynn, of the home, who lived with her and took care of her daily; great-grandchildren – Gracelynn "Gracie" Hewitt and Ryleigh "Ry Ry" Hewitt, both of Reidsville, NC; special friends – Stephanie Houghton, Paul Carter, Star Collins and Frank Lynn;  and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
