Obituary

Mrs. Helen Harris Graves was born March 20, 1921 to the late George Harris and Laura Mullins Harris. Following a brief illness, she departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2020, ascending to a place of eternal rest and peace.

Graveside services will be July 9, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at New Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Public will view on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 P.M. at McLaurin Funeral Home. As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, NC, she received her high school diploma from Rockingham Community College. She enjoyed many years farming and as a homemaker. She was a member of New Center Primitive Baptist Church in Reidsville NC. She was the mother of the church, served as assistant treasurer, kitchen committee chair, and flower club chair. She loved fishing, gardening, quilting, cooking and laughing with family and friends.

In addition to her parents and siblings, her husband, Rev. Ernest S. Graves and son, Carter L. Graves preceded her in death.*

Surviving relatives: Ricky Graves (Gloria), Shirley Foster (James Benton), and Nancy Setzer all of Reidsville, NC; Perry Graves of Greensboro NC; Helen Johnson of Ruffin NC; and Pearletta Graves of Atlanta, GA;10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
