Embarking on her Christian journey, we say to our loved one, Hazel Mae Totten Apple, who closed her eyes on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington, NC after a brief illness, our heartfelt farewells.
"Diddie", as she was lovingly called, was the daughter of the late Robert Odell Gwynn, the late Marie Totten Holloway and the late loving Step Father, Lindsey Allen Holloway. She was born on June 21, 1953 in Caswell County where she spent the majority of her life until a brief illness befell upon her. It was here where she received her public school education at Stoney Creek Elementary and Bartlett Yancey Senior High.
Hazel accepted Christ and was baptized and united with the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Pelham, NC where she served on the Usher's Board. Her love of cooking would lead her to assist, when needed, on the kitchen committee. She was a former employee of the White Oak Plant in Greensboro, NC. She was married to Willie Robert Apple of Caswell County.
She was a devoted mother who was compassionate, loved to cook, canning and growing flowers. She loved her son, her family and was especially proud of her granddaughters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry Totten, William Totten and Michael Holloway.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Willie Robert Apple; her beloved son, Reginald Bernard Apple (Fredretta); one brother, Leon Holloway; four sisters, Doris Henderson (Melvin), Evelyn Tardy (Albert), Dorothy Heitt (Wayne), and Barbara Holloway (Wilbert); two aunts, Yvonne Holloway and Darlean Clark (Alvis); along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
