Hattie Bell Johnson, 99, of Johnson Rd., Reidsville North Carolina, departed this life at 4:30 AM, Monday morning, February 17, 2014 at Avante Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Friday, February 21, 2014 at McLaurin Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with a visitation 2:00-2:30 P.M. prior to the service and burial following in the Chapel Hill Progressive Primitive Baptist Church.
A native of the Stacey Community, she was born on June 3, 1914 to the late Willie Pink and Nannie Bass Johnson where she resided until failing health. Hattie never married or bore any children, but she was a true nurturer and mother to several. Even with the loss of her vision in her younger years she was still independent and able to do for herself. She was a great home maker and a wonderful nanny. She knew who you were by the sound of your voice. All her sibling was taught to show respect and support. Hattie was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
She was the last survivor of six brothers and three sisters.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: a host of nieces, nephews, a Loyal Friend & Caregiver; Dorothy Cobb, Reidsville, North Carolina, other family and friends. In lieu of a repass; monetary donations can be made to her church building fund in her honor: Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2292, Reidsville, NC 27320 McLaurin Funeral Home will be serving the family.
