Obituary

Mrs. Hattie Lawson Jeffers passed on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC with family visitation one half hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Church cemetery.  Public visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Hattie Lee Lawson Jeffers was born on June 11, 1935, in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Robert and Mozella Lawson.  She departed this life bound for her heavenly home on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina.

"Sister Hattie" was a faithful member of Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc. until her health declined.  She faithfully supported her church's auxiliaries and ministries.

Hattie was educated in the Rockingham County Public School System and graduated from Reidsville's Booker T. Washington High School in 1954 and moved to Manhattan, New York soon after graduation.  After further education, she began employment with the Department of Education as a health worker and retired in 2003 after more than 30 years.  Shortly thereafter, she returned to Reidsville, where she resided until her death.

Hattie was a very jovial person who loved to encourage others.  She was also a very giving person and loved people and they loved her in return.

In addition to his parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Isaac Jeffers; sister, Beatrice Wilson; and brothers, Robert Glenn Lawson, Robert Lawson, Jr. and Leon Lawson, Sr.

Those left to cherish precious memories are:  nieces, Beverly Rucker (George), Vickie Lawson (Clint) and Dollree Lane (Harvey), all of Reidsville, NC; nephews, Leon Lawson, Jr. (Dominique), Larry Lawson, Sr. (Christine), Randy Lawson and Anthony Rucker, all of Reidsville, NC and Irvin Lawson (Debra) of Baltimore, MD; great-niece, Aronderly Rucker of Reidsville, NC; sisters-in-law, Inez Lawson of Reidsville, NC and Mary Ella Graves of Blanche, NC; special friend, Mercedes Youman of Las Vegas, NV; special caregiver, Elaine Lynn of Reidsville, NC; and a host of God-children, cousins, classmates, other relatives and friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family.   C ovid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
