LAURINBURG - Gary Robertson, was born on September 5, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY to the late James H. Robertson and Rachel Waddell Robertson Smith.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 23, 2026 from the Mount Pleasant African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 15956 Old Lake Road, Riegelwood, NC. the viewing will begin at 11 a.m., with the family arriving at 11:30 a.m. Reverend Dr. Cleotha Robertson served as eulogist.

The committal and interment with military honors performed by the United States Air Force Honor Guard followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Riegelwood, NC.

Gary, also lovingly known as G-Man, Gebber, or "Josh", graduated Acme-Delco Jr-Sr High School in 1977 and attended Southeastern Community College. He was an Air Force Veteran who served for 8 years. After leaving the Air Force, Gary worked for USPS as a Mail Carrier for 28 years in New York and Rockingham, CN until he retired in 2022.

Gary was a man of many interests. He enjoyed gardening, playing board games, home and car projects, playing the guitar and all things basketball.

Gary never met a stranger. He was dependable and devoted to his loved ones. As a doting son, he was one of the primary caregivers for his mother, transporting her to and from her chemotherapy. He was a dedicated brother to his siblings. He was a devoted uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He loved his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in deatlh by his sister, Rita Laverne Robertson. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Cleotha (Ana); sister, Turnette Chestnut (Michael); aunt, Lenear Waddell Burgess; nephews, Dr. Michael Chestnut II, LTJG Raphael Chestnut, Canaan Johnson, James Robertson and Joshua Robertson; nieces, LaTonya Robertson, Dr. LaToya Robertson, HM1 Rachael Chestnut and Raquel Robertson; special cousins, Claud Robertson, Alma Bowen, Cecilia Dallas-Ricks, Barbara Mosley, Grayling Grovner; special friends, Dennis Smith (Cheryl), Rodney Young, Louis Keaton, Dwan McLaurin (Maggie) and Rev. Edward Ashe.
