Obituary

Mrs. Garnett Martin Rucker passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Annie Penn Hospital.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Piedmont District Convention of Christian Churches, (Christian View Center), Hwy 87, Reidsville, N.C with a visitation 1:30 P.M. prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Garnett Martin Rucker was born May 12, 1924 to the late John Martin Sr. and Nannie Vaughn Martin in Leaksville, North Carolina. She made her transition into everlasting life on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Garnett graduated from Douglass High School and started to work at Mitchell Laundry. She moved to Alexandria Va., where she met and later married the love of her life Rev. Carroll Eugene Rucker in   October 22, 1949. They lived in Alexandria, Va. and New York before moving back to Reidsville, NC.  She later retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 17 years of services.

Garnett received Christ in her life at an early age and joined Little Bethlehem Christian Church. Garnett loved her church and was very active in serving God. She was a member of the CWF( Christian Women Fellowship) Missionary Dept,  the Senior Choir, Usher ,  served on the Trustee Board, Pastoral Committee, Captain of Club #3 and Vice Chairman of the Church.  She would regularly attend the Christian Women Fellowship night (CWF) at the annual Piedmont District Convention.  Garnett loved the Lord and would often say "keep praying, prayers work".

She was preceded in death by her Son, Mark Anthony Rucker and her siblings, Melvin Martin, Lacy Martin, Vernard Martin, Lucy Galloway and Janice Brice.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories:  her husband of 67 years; Rev. Carroll Eugene Rucker, grandchildren:  Marcus Rucker, Amber Dalton and Brian Rucker. One great granddaughter, Zoe Fargis . Sisters Lillie Price of Eden, NC and  Barbara Henley of Reidsville, NC  and brother John Martin Jr., Eden, NC and an abundance of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

Public Viewing will be Wednesday, April 26, 2017 1:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
