Dr. Gabriele Smith-Kaestner passed on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, North Carolina. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 633 NC Highway 150, Greensboro, NC.
Dr. Gabriele Smith-Kaestner was born on September 25, 1953 in Goppingen, Germany. She departed this life on January 24, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was married to her husband, Benjamin Smith for 33 years and had lived in the United States for almost 30 years.
Gabriele was a faithful member of St. Thomas Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Greensboro, North Carolina and served on the Labors of Love Ministry, Voices in Unity Choir, Missionary Department and Usher Board. Additionally, she was a faithful student at the Living Epistle Bible College where she received a doctorate degree in Theology.
Gabriele was a loyal and dedicated caregiver with a heart of gold. Her favorite saying was "A wise woman carries her oil with her".
She was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia (Molly) Kaestner; her father, Werner Kaestner; and then her beloved mother, Inge Kaestner.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving husband, Benjamin Smith of Greensboro, NC; siblings, Manfred and Gabi Kaestner, Helga Schmied, Jurgen and Carmer Kaestner, Gisela and Markus Osters, Klaus and Bettina Kaestner, all of Goppingen, Germany; special friends, Elect Lady Juanita Hunter, Mother Doris Harbor and adopted sister, Dr. Joyce Harbor Corley; Godsons, August and Aidan Neal; the St. Thomas Chapel Church family; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
