CHAPEL HILL, NC - Mr. Fred Louis King, age 77, formerly of Reidsville, the son of the late Callie and Robert King was called to his eternal resting place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC.
A viewing will begin on Saturday, August 22, 2026 from 12 until 6 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026 from the Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, 1694 US-158, Reidsville, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. Pastor Troy Wallace will officiate and Reverend Willie Sellars will serve as eulogist.
The committal and interment with military honors performed by the United States Marines Corps Honor Guard will follow in the Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.
Fred was born on August 3, 1949 in Rockingham County, NC.
He received his education in the Rockingham County Schools System where he graduated form Booker T. Washington High School class of 1968.
Fred served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. Afterwards, he worked in healthcare as a nurse aide.
He was a member of the 158 East Family and formerly attended Rocky Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brother, Charles Irvin King and Joe Albert King both of Reidsville, NC; one sister, Geraldine Hooper of Bronx, NY.
Remembering him with love are nieces: Carolyn Regina Hooper of Chapel Hill, NC, Margaret Ann Barham (David) of Reidsville, NC, Felecia King of Danville, VA, Blanquita King of Plainville, NJ, Desiree Stewart (Teddy) of Greensboro, NC and Latoshia Harris-Hill (Cliffton) of Brooklyn, NY; nephew: Lamont King (Crystal) of Greensboro, NC; aunt: Juanita King of Ruffin, NC; sister-in-law: Evelyn Mebane King of Reidsville, NC; a host of great-nieces/nephews, cousins and friends.
