Our beloved Mr. Fred L. Courts Sr., affectionately called "Granddad," was an honorable man of quiet strength. Born in Rockingham County, North Carolina, he was the son of Bertha Siddle Courts and Joe Frank Courts.
Throughout his well-lived life, he touched the hearts of many with his kindness and compassion.
After graduating from high school, Fred began his career at the American Tobacco Company, where he dedicated 42 years of service as a truck driver. His commitment and dedication to his work were evident throughout his long tenure. He approached his job with diligence and professionalism, earning the respect of his colleagues and the community.
Fred was a devout member of Jerusalem United Holy Church, where he actively served as a Stewart. He found joy and fulfillment in being a part of the Male Chorus and the Men's Organization. His faith played a significant role in his life, and he found solace and strength in his connection with his church community.
Outside of work and church, Fred had a deep appreciation for simple pleasures. He enjoyed beach vacations and watching his favorite television shows, including "Let's Make a Deal," "The Price is Right," "Judge Judy," and "Judge Mathis." These moments of relaxation allowed him to unwind and find moments of laughter and entertainment.
One of the most cherished aspects of Fred's life was his relationship with his brother, Joe. They shared an unbreakable bond and friendship. They spoke daily, discussing everything from the weather to their meals and the shows they watched on TV. Their conversations were filled with laughter and joy, and their closeness was a testament to the strength of their brotherly bond.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred Courts, sons Fred L. Courts Jr. and Alton Moyer, sisters Gladys Courts and Louise Neal, and brother Claude Allen, and great-grandson Devin Moyer. Their memories continued to live on within him.
His presence will be greatly missed and cherished by his daughter, Carol Courts, sons Frankie Courts, Ivory Courts, and Gerald Courts (Evelyn Louise), and his brother Joe Courts. Fred's love extended to his 17 grandchildren, 28 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, 6 nieces and 2 nephews, who were fortunate to have experienced his warmth, affection, and words of wisdom.
As we bid farewell to Fred, we remember him as a man who lived his life with integrity and kindness. His legacy of love and family will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
