Frank G. Fleming, Sr.

REIDSVILLE, NC - Mr. Frank Gilbert Fleming, Sr., age 83, departed this world on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at his home.

A viewing will begin on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at noon in the McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. The wake will be held from 6 until 7 p.m. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2026 from the Slades Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 307 E. Union Street, Morganton, NC. Viewing and visitation with the family present will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 12 p.m.

The committal and interment will follow in Olive Hill Cemetery, Morganton, NC.

All other times, the family will receive friends at the home - 1011 Lyle Street, Reidsville, NC.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Mr. Frank Gilbert Fleming Sr., entered eternal rest. Though our hearts are filled with sorrow, we rejoice in knowing that his life was filled with faith, service, and love for his family, friends and community.

Frank was born on November 27, 1942, in Burke County, Morganton, North Carolina, to the late Frank "Boonie" Fleming and Bessie K. Fleming. He was raised in Morganton, where he developed the values of faith, respect, and compassion that would guide him throughout his life.

Frank attended Olive Hill School, where he distinguished himself both academically and athletically. He excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and track & field and was an active member of the Glee Club and the Honor Society. His commitment to excellence continued at Johnson C. Smith University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics while proudly playing football for the Golden Bulls.

On December 27, 1973, Frank was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn Bradley Fleming. Together they shared more than 52 years of love, faith, partnership, and devotion.

Frank dedicated his professional life to educating and inspiring others. He began his career as a teacher and coach at Morganton Junior High School before continuing his work at Booker T. Washington High School. He later joined Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and concluded his career as an accountant.

Frank faithfully served Slade's Chapel AME Zion Church for many years. He joyfully lifted his voice as a member of the Men's Choir and the Voices of the Chapel. His commitment to the ministry also included serving on the Board of Trustees, supporting the Patrons List Fundraiser, participating in the Men's Club, and faithfully giving of his time, talents, and resources to strengthen the work of the church. His quiet spirit of service and steadfast faith left a lasting impact on his church family.

Frank found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time on the golf course, bowling with friends, and sharing laughter with those he loved. One of his greatest joys was participating in the Fullwood Family Reunion, where he faithfully gathered with relatives each year to celebrate family, fellowship, and heritage.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Carolyn Bradley Fleming; his children, Veronica Bradley of Charlotte, North Carolina, Eric Ervin of Harlan, Kentucky, and Frank Fleming, Jr. of Reidsville, North Carolina; and his grandchildren, Alexandra Bradley, Sereniti Fleming, and Frank Fleming III, who were among the greatest blessings of his life.

He is also survived by his loving sisters, Norma Fleming of Charlotte, North Carolina; Dell Gardin of Boston, Massachusetts; and Carol Ervin Largent of Morganton, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Frankie Woods of Jersey City, New Jersey; his aunts, Ruby Moore, Mildred Blackmon, Marjorie Fleming, Vera McKesson, and Elfreda Avery; and his uncles, James Otis Kincaid, John Kincaid, Wallace "Doonie" Fleming, and Eugene Edward Fleming.

In addition to his immediate family, Frank leaves to treasure his memory the Kincaid, Moore, and Fullwood families; his cousin, Forest Fleming, Jr.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, former students, colleagues, and all whose lives were enriched by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering faith.

Although Frank has departed this life, he will be remembered with love and appreciation by all who knew him, and his life will continue to be reflected in the many lives he touched.
