Frank William Cross, also known as "Biggie" was born in Halifax County, North Carolina on May 16th, 1939 to Oscar Cross Sr. and Mary Ethel Pittman Cross. He was one of ten siblings. At the age of 9, Frank moved with his family to Cliffwood, NJ. Frank gave his life to Christ and was baptized in Jesus name at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith. He later became a member of Mount Moriah Church in Cliffwood Beach, NJ where he worshipped with longtime companion Ruth Lucas.

Frank worked odd jobs to assist with his parents and siblings. Frank's first permanent job was with Copper Works, Perth Amboy, NJ working in the furnace.  In his own words during his most recent hospital stay, he shared that his brother Oscar Cross was working for a trucking company, taught him how to drive trucks and told him to start driving.  Oscar/Bayboy got him his first trucking job. They loaded and unloaded trucks and was eventually promoted to driving. They hauled produce to the local Foodtown grocery stores. He stated he followed Oscar a lot in his working days, he said "whatever Oscar did I did ". Frank bought his first truck and became his own Owner Operator building his business Frank Cross Trucking hauling for Twin County Trucking. He loved driving his big rig. Trucking was his life.

On April 30th, 1961 Frank became a father to his first daughter Debra Cotton (Mrs. Virginia Burls, mother). He was a proud father.

Frank set his eyes on a young lady named Mary Arlene Cross and they were married on September 15th, 1962. To this union was born two more children. Lisa LaRae Cross, August 29th, 1963 and Michael Darnell Cross, April 18th, 1972. They purchased their dream home in Red Bank, NJ and spent many happy years there. Parties, cookouts and pool parties. Frank still trucking and Mary managing Frank Cross Trucking.

Frank suffered a horrific accident with his truck and was hospitalized for months, undergoing a six-hour surgery to restore his punctured lung crushed ribs, pelvic and hip. After a long recovery demonstrating that STRONG personality he has always had he recovered. This led to his retirement from the career he loved. He returned to the home he shared with his long-time companion Ruth Lucas.

Frank's hobbies were riding motorcycles (loved those Harley Davidson's), riding his cruiser more than five miles a day flea markets and fixing/building things. If it could be fixed or built, he would do it and do it with his main tool, Duct tape. Yes, that silver tape that he owned many rolls of.

Frank loved his family he was a dedicated father to his children and an AWESOME provider.  There was nothing his kids and grandkids couldn't get from him.  He bought many cars.  He was the first Oprah, YOU GET A CAR, YOU GET A CAR AND YOU GET A CAR!!  Yes, he kept his kids and grandkids riding.  He had a heart as big as Texas. There was nothing he wouldn't do for a friend either you could depend on him to help you out, whether it was an ear for listening, moving you to a new place, lending money, driving you to and from wherever you needed to go.

Frank relocated to Greensboro, NC following a hospital stay in New Jersey. He encountered many illnesses during this time, but always raised from every one of them. That strong will for life kept him going. He fought his last battle and was called home by God on January 1st, 2026. We love you Dad, Granddad, Great Grandad Brother, Uncle, Companion, Friend. You will truly be missed.
