Obituary

Mrs. Frances Louise Settle passed peacefully on Christmas night, December 25, 2022 at Cypress Valley of Reidsville, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Grooms Missionary Baptist Church with family visitation one half hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Grooms Church Cemetery.  Public visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Mrs. Frances Louise Cardwell  Settle was born in Rockingham County to the late Layton Cardwell and Minnie Pearl Johnson Cardwell. She was a member of Grooms Missionary Baptist Church where she was active with the Senior Saints.  In earlier years, she was the pianist for the Junior Choir.
She was educated in the Haynes Chapel Community, attending the local schools.  Later, she attended Rockingham Community College where she received certification as a CNA.  Employed at American Tobacco Company, she retired after 14 years of service.
Louise was formerly a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Greensboro, NC.  She enjoyed playing softball in the Haynes Chapel Community in earlier years and later became an excellent cook, preparing meals for everyone.  She also enjoyed studying the Bible, gardening, canning/freezing vegetables and shopping.
Affectionately called "Nanna Louise", "MamaCita", "Aunt Fluff", and "Auntie", Louise had a caring, humble spirit with a heart of compassion.  She devoted her time to providing daily care to a number of her family members including her husband, son, sister, brothers and other friends of the family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Ralph Eddie Cardwell; sister, Helen Cardwell Hopper; brothers, James Cardwell, John Wesley Cardwell, Jacob Cardwell, Ernest Cardwell and Eugene Cardwell; and her dog, "Jeff."
Those left to cherish precious memories are:  a host of nieces and nephews; special nephew, Ronnie Shaffer (Canzadie); great-niece, LaSonya Morris; special God-children, Kennedy Broadnax and Kendrick Harden; special extended family, Rev. Tommy Williamson (Pauline), Barbara Hooper (Thomas) and Janice Barham.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
