Ms. Frances Macklin passed on Monday, January 20, 2020 at UNC-Rehabilitation Center in Eden, NC. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at First Christian Church with family visitation one half hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 1:30 - 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Deacon Frances Macklin was born to the late Helena Jones and William Macklin in Reidsville, North Carolina on June 3, 1939. Frances departed to Glory on Monday, January 20, 2020. She was preceded in death by an uncle, Robert O. Jones and a cousin, Robert D. Jones.
Frances accepted Christ at an early age at First Christian Church in Reidsville, NC. She attended Booker T. Washington High School graduating in 1958. In 1980, she relocated to Washington, DC where she worked as a secretary for the federal government until she retired in 1999. While living in DC, she joined Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Suitland, MD, where she served faithfully in many ministries, including the Deacon Board (Chair), Usher Board, Mass Choir, Tribe of God and the Hospitality Committee.
After retirement, Frances moved back to Reidsville, NC in 2007 and served faithfully at First Christian Church until her health declined. She was a loving niece, cousin, and friend, and she will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish precious memories include: an aunt, Inez D. Jones, of Reidsville, NC; cousins, Rev. Dr. Portia Hopper (Ernest), of Augusta, GA, Evangelist Linda Hedrick (Mack), of Greensboro, NC, Rudy D. Jones (Sherrie), of Waterloo, Iowa , Rev. Dr. Joey Jones (Kinta), of Silver Spring, MD, Marty Jones, of Washington, DC, and Lisa Lunsford, of Washington, DC; special cousins from Philadelphia, PA and Winston-Salem, NC; special friends, Fred and Faye Neal, John and Dorothy Harris, and Minister George Gunn, all of Reidsville, NC; and a plethora of other relatives and friends.
