Obituary

REIDSVILLE, NC - Mrs. Estella Yvonne Smith Stacey, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 2026 from the McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. Minister George Gunn will officiate and Reverend John B. Doe will serve as eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

All other times, the family will receive friends at the home daily from 2 until 6 p.m. (1141 Crutchfield Road, Reidsville, NC)

Estella Yvonne Smith Stacey, 87, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. She was born on January 27, 1939 in Caswell County, NC, to the late Sylvester and Adelaide (Jeffries) Smith. She was their middle child of seven.

Estella was educated the Caswell and Rockingham County schools. She was a proud member of the Class of 1957 of Booker T. Washington High School. She matriculated at Barber Scotia College and was proud to be a Sabre. She returned to serve in Rockingham County Schools until her retirement.

She was baptized at Bluestone Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant until she moved her membership to join her husband Samuel at Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a Deaconess and a Church Mother until her health no longer allowed her to attend.

She married Samuel Earl Stacey on August 10, 1957, and shared 47 years and 7 wonderful children together. Waiting to reunite with her in the heavenly home are Samuel, her parents, four of her sons, Kenneth, Gary, Dennis and Samuel II; and siblings, Fred, Althea, Earliest, Margaret, m and Charles. Their home and guidance shaped a foundation of faith, character, and devotion to family.

Wonderful memories are in the hearts of her surviving loved ones; son, Jeffrey L. Stacey of the home; daughters, Shelby Clyburn of Reidsville, Marilynn Stacey-Suggs (Perry) of Savannah, Georgia; "Mother'" grandchildren, Jasmine Clyburn Trotter (Shan) of Burlington, Denard Stacey, Erica Clyburn, and Gabrielle Stacey, al of Danville GiGi's great grandsons, Laylon Stacey and "Alex" Trotter. She is also survived by her brother, William Sylvester Smith (Yvonne) of Chicago, IL; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
