Mrs. Emma Beatrice Whitt Herbin, lovingly called Bea by friends and family and Big Mama by her grand- and great grand-children, was born July 19, 1933 in Reidsville, NC to the late Walter Leroy Whitt and the late Zelia Neal Whitt. She departed on August 26, 2026 at her residence.

She was a faithful member of Benaja Mount Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc. and was an Honorary Church Usher.

She formerly worked as an in-home care provider with various families, and prior to full retirement, she was an Industrial Cleaner with Carolina Services of the Triad (CST).

Bea was a soft-spoken, yet strong, God-fearing woman who loved gardening, cooking, baking and bringing everyone together over a good home-cooked meal and being a great source of support to her family and friends. Her doors and arms were always open and welcoming to everyone that knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathanal Herbin, and her siblings: Bertha Whitt, Selma Kimber (Philip Kimber) and Melvin Whitt; children: Karl Wilson, Debra Wilson, Donna Neal, Doris Royster and a baby boy that passed in childbirth.

Bea left behind her children, daughters: Natalean Herbin (Clyde Vaughan), Mona Blackwell (Clayton Blackwell), Gail Wilson; sons: Timothy Wilson, James Wilson (Chervon Clack); siblings: brother, Walter Sylvester Whitt; sisters-in-law, Joyce P. Whitt and Virginia Wray; daughter-in-law, Diane Wilson; bonus daughter, Desiree Lee.

Affectionately referred to as Big Mama by her 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 20 great, great-grandchildren. There was an endless supply of warm hugs and she always LOVED US MORE.

Special friends to Bea were Mary Harrison and Eunice Huff both of Reidsville, NC. And there was a never ending list of other relatives and friends that she held close and dear.

Special thanks and acknowledgement to providers in her last days: Aging, Disability and Transit Services of Rockingham County (ADTSRC) District At Home of Greensboro, NC, AuthoraCare Provider of Palliative and Hospice Services Cone Health Systems
