Mrs. Elsmer Thornton Herbin a native of Ruffin, North Carolina, transitioned this life on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Brian Center, Yanceyville, North Carolina. She wnt home peacefully and will no longer have to endure sickness and pain. She was the daughter of the late Jim Thornton and the late Carrie Adams Thornton. She was born on January 10, 1935.

She attended Caswell County Schools and was a homemaker. She was married to late Herbert Herbin and to this union were 10 children born. One son, Ronnie Herbin, who predeceased her in death. She also had two sisters; and eight brothers who predeceased her in death, namely; Alfriedia Hassell, Bell Carr, Calvin Williams, Fred Pass, Charlie Jack Pass, Cornelius Pass, Dewey Thornton, Grover Williams, Cornell Pass and the Reverend George H. Pass

She was of the Baptist faith. She leaves to mourn her loss five sons; John Wayne Pass, (Elder Ella J. Pass), Reidsville, North Carolina, Michael Herbin, Yanceyville, NC, Terry Herbin, (Kathy), Roy Herbin, Victor Herbin, (JoAnne) all of Timberlake, NC; four daughters, Donna Herbin, and Carolyn Herbin of Yanceyville, NC., Cheryl Dukes, Pflugerville, Texas, and Gloria Minor, Reidsville, NC., one daughter-in-law, Ellen Long Herbin, Danville, VA., two sisters; Margaret Whitt, Reidsville, NC., and Annie Mae Williamson, Eden, NC., 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren , and one great great grandson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Benaja Mt. Zion Holy Church of God. Visitation will be 1:30 pm- 2:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
