Eleanor Watt
Earle
Dec 28, 1913 — Mar 9, 2019
Mrs. Eleanor Doris (Watt) Earle went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Raleigh Rehabilitation in Raleigh, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Bethel A.M.E. Church at 12 noon on Market Street in Greensboro, North Carolina. Family visitation will be one half hour prior to the service and burial will be at the Greenview Cemetery in Reidsville, NC
Eleanor was the first of four children born to the union of Alfred Walter Watt and Eugenia (Lowe) Watt on December 28, 1913 in Reidsville North Carolina. Raised in the church, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She married Jerome Alexander Bailey and became the loving and faithful Mother to her only child, Jerry, who went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2019.
After pursuing advanced education in New York and Arizona, she acquired professional Nursing certifications ultimately becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse, embarking on an illustrious career which would span almost six (6) decades.
Affectionately called "Mrs. Ellie", she moved to Cleveland, Ohio where she became the union steward at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, helping both patients and co-workers alike in a post she proudly held for over two decades. After retirement from the VA, Mrs. Ellie continued assisting those in need of professional care as a private duty nurse. Upon retiring from active service, she relocated from her home in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to California to enjoy time with her daughter and adult grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Later, she returned home to Carolina to fellowship with her sister Jan, where she became a member of Bethel AME Church, joyfully worshiping her Heavenly Father there as long as she was able.
Mrs. Ellie was most proud of her love and relationship with Christ, her love and devotion to her daughter and her many years of public service in the medical field. She kept the memories of her parents and grandparents alive by telling stories about their lives and expressing her love for them and all her siblings.
In addition to her beloved daughter Jerry, she was preceded in death by her brother Alfred Watt, baby sister Sue Jackson, and namesake granddaughter, Eleanor Deacon Wesley.
She is survived by her sister, Janet Watt Rose; grandchildren, Michael, LaVonda (Bobby), Delano, Gerald (Maria) and Christian (Maurice); great-grandchildren, Krishann, Jason, Robyn, Ramiah, and Racquel; great-great-grandchildren, Jalayla, Lola and Lemuel; two nieces, Hazel Lee and Sue Carol; nephew, Eugene Jackson Jr.; adopted daughters and son, Dr. Patricia Lynch, Lois Hurdle, and George Smith; and a host of dear family, dear friends and loved ones to cherish her memory. She was truly an Angel among us, touched by the Hand of God, beloved by all who knew her. We were blessed she walked upon this earth with us for over 105 years.
McLaurin Funeral Home is serving the family.
