Elder Dewey Lane passed on February 24, 2019 at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, NC. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. with family visitation at 1:30 p.m . on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lincoln Broadnax officiating.  Interment will follow in the Danbury Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 7632 158 West, Reidsville, NC.

Dewey Lane was born in Reidsville, NC, to the late John Early and Lillie Lawson Lane. He went to school in the Reidsville City School system. He was married to Dorothy Harrison Lane.  A God-fearing man and Deacon in Danbury Primitive Baptist Church, he became an ordained preacher.  He loved praying for and with others, studying his Bible, spending time with others, and always wearing a smile on his face.

On February 25, 2019, God decided to take his servant Elder Dewey Lane home.  He transcended to join his late wife Dorothy Lane, brothers - Harvey Lane, Lawyer Lane, and Arbon Lane; Sisters - Catherine Neal and Zenna Lane; and two sons - Dewey Leon Lane and Alfonso "Fonz" Lane.

Dewey leaves to cherish his loving memory,  his loving daughter and caretaker, Margie Lane; brothers - Melvin Lane, Willie (Verdell) Lane, and Henry (Susie) Lane; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren which includes honorable grandchildren and great grandchildren; April Wimple - mother of Vision (Greensboro NC), MaRhonda Jones - mother of Dream, Wisdom and Freedom Jones (Greensboro NC), Danielle Wimple - mother of Love, Jeremiah, and Promise Thomas (Greensboro), and Danny Wimple (Reidsville NC); special friends - Louis Wimple and Ray Lawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
