Mr. Elbert S. Graves passed on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC, with family visitation one half hour prior to the service and burial at the Church's cemetery.  Public viewing will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel.

Elbert Spencer Graves was born on June 18, 1951, to the late William Daniel Bigelow and the late Annie Bell Graves Bigelow in Caswell County, North Carolina.  Following a lengthy illness, God released him to rest in peace.

He was known throughout the community for his humble and quiet spirit.  Mr. Graves had a generous heart and showed compassion towards others.  He had a strong love for God and his family.  A member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church, he sang in the Male Choir, played the tambourine, and became an Honorary Deacon.

He lived most of his life with the late Elnora Graves (grandmother), R.D. Graves (uncle/caregiver) and Lonza Graves (cousin).

Those left to cherish precious memories include:  sisters, Frances Ann Pass of Greensboro, NC, Carolyn Perkins of Eden, NC; brothers, Lacy Bigelow of Reidsville, NC, Robert D. Bigelow of Greensboro, NC; devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, a dear friend, Deacon George Boswell, other relatives and friends.
