Obituary

Edith "Melvine" Hazel was born in Rockingham County on August 22, 1938 to the late James and Lizzie Mae Slade. She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her home.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenview Cemetery.
Public Visitation will be Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:oo p.m.

Melvine attended Rockingham County schools. She was on the basketball team and a cheerleader at Booker T. Washington High School. She worked many years for Zarn Manufacture, before retiring from Ball Corporation.

Melvine loved to cook and enjoyed entertaining and taking pictures. She was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother; James A. Slade Jr. (Buster).

Melvine leaves to cherish her wonderful memories a loving son; Michael Stubblefield (fiancée Beverly), grandchildren; Laquenta (King), Stephen, Deaquwon, great grandchildren; Laquoia, King, Kingston and Kingsley, sisters; Billie McCain (Johnny), Marcell Crawford, Peggy Slade, brother; Larry Slade (Net), a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
