Derrick Fogg, 56, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina departed this life on Monday, June 1, 2026. He quietly transitioned from his earthly home to rest in his heavenly home.
Derrick was born in Eden, North Carolina on October 27, 1969. In life, Derrick wore many hats. As part-owner of the Polarity One After Hours Club, Derrick skillfully use his talent as a DJ. Affectionately known as "DJ Hitter" and "Sly", Derrick never failed to bring enjoyment and entertainment to every event he serviced. He faithfully and enthusiastically offered his skills on the soundboard until his health declined.
Derrick's passion and love of cars made him an extremely good backyard mechanic, and his mechanical advice was relied upon and sought after by many.
He was a caring and loving man. It was impossible to be in his presence and not witness his love for family and friends, or his thoughtful and generous nature. He had the remarkable ability to lift the spirits of everyone he encountered. Derrick was a great teller of family stories, and his riotous and robust laughter filled every room he occupied. Being the second of thirteen childing in the home, Derrick was a natural born caregiver and leader. He had an impeccable memory and he took pride in revealing the unknown antics and shenanigans of his and his siblings' childhood. Outspoken and quick-witted, there was never a dull moment when Derrick was around. He will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Derrick leaves to cherish his memory his wife and best friend of many years, Caroline Fogg of North Carolina; his daughters, Denaija Moreland (Robin) of NC, and Tiffany Green of SC; his sons, Derrick Fogg and Kyle Ligon of NC; his loving and faithful mother, Elder Freda Blackstock-Ziglar of NC; brothers and sisters, Marquette, Michael (Janett), James (Candice), Tim (Michelle), Tavares (Samantha), Charles (Mary), Tyler (Tabitha), Terrell (Caitlyn), Daphne, Kim (Paul), Tana, Bevy (Corell), Tanayia and Minnie. He was also blessed with bonus brothers, Gus, Chris and Matthew; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
