REIDSVILLE, NC - Mrs. Debbie Ann Simpson Peoples, age 72, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Public viewing will begin on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 12 until 6 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 15, 2026 from the Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church, 9892 NC-700, Pelham, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. Pastor Hamid Kamara will preside and Reverend John B. Doe, eulogist.
The committal and interment will follow in the Bluestone Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, NC.
Debbie Ann Simpson Peoples, daughter and stepdaughter of the late Eliza and Dewey Watlington and David Simpson. was born August 2,1953 and departed this life on Friday, February 6, 2026, ascending to a place of eternal rest and peace.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, she is a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, class of 1971. She was employed with Unifi (formerly Macfield) for over 40 years. She was a member of Bluestone Missionary Baptist Church.
Known for her gregarious personality and loved being around people and loved supporting her grandson Cameron in playing football.
In addition to her parents, Eliza and Dewey Watlington, David Simpson and a brother David Wayne Simpson preceded her in death. A family matriarch will continue to bless by the love of her life included a son: Lamain Peoples; grandson, Cameron Peoples; special friend, John Rollins; also, sisters; Pearlie Ferrell, Juanita Simpson, Gloria Watlington, Denise Watlington, Laverne Pritchett (Paul), Lisa Simpson; brothers, Larry Watlington (Brenda), Chris Watlington (Mickey), David Simpson (Cynthia), and Michael Williams; aunts, Dollie Dodd, Pearl Whitsett, Gladys Doe (Rev. John), a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
