Edith Williamson Martin entered eternal rest on June 11, 2026, trusting fully in the promises of the Lord. Born on July 8, 1933, she lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and devoted service. Her gentle spirit and steadfast devotion to God guided every step of her earthly journey.

Affectionately known as Edith Martin, she was a beloved and faithful member of New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church where she served with humility and grace as a Deaconess, Sunday school teacher, Nurses unit member, and in any other needed capacity. She also served as a member of Chapter 529 Eastern Star and fulfilled the role of Worthy Matron of Pride of Locust Hill 624. She often shared a warm smile and a quiet word of encouragement that touched hearts and uplifted all who knew her. Her presence was a constant reminder of God's love in action.

Edith Martin was also known for her extraordinary gift of baking. She was especially celebrated for her renowned butter pecan pound cake, a dessert her family requested time and again. She delighted in preparing it with love and often delivered it still warm and fragrant from the oven—a simple act that brought joy to every gathering and comfort to every heart. She was also an avid fan of baseball and enjoyed watching games as one of her favorite pastimes. For many years, she was a devoted caregiver to her mother. Thereafter, she entered the workforce and was employed at Creighton Shirt Factory before retiring from Brian Center Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Edith Martin was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Martin, Sr., and two stepchildren, Eloise Cornwell and Robert Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory two stepsons, David Martin, Jr. and Artis Martin (Edith), sister-in-law, Dorothy Williamson, together with a host of nieces and nephews.

Edith Martin was the last surviving child of the late Albert and Edith Williamson. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Mamie W. Withers, Alice E. Withers, Matoka W. Withers, Emma E. Foster, Ophelia Williamson, James A. Williamson, Robert T. Williamson, John L. Williamson, Sr., Willie O. Williamson, and Norman T. Williamson.

The Martin family gratefully acknowledges and extends sincere appreciation to the New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church family and Pastor Lamar Boykin for their steadfast support and many acts of kindness throughout Edith Martin's stay at Cypress Valley Nursing Home, and to the staff of Cypress Valley Nursing Home for their dedicated care and faithful support over eleven consecutive years.
