Deacon Samuel E. Moore, "Pudden", passed peacefully on Sunday evening, May 19, 2019 at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Elm Grove Baptist Church with a visitation 1:30 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Elm Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sam was born in Stacey NC April 1, 1947 to Charles Moore Sr. and Sarah Francis Jarrett Moore who preceded him in death. He attended Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville NC and graduated with the class of 1965. After high school he attended Shaw University in Raleigh NC before entering into the Marine Corps. He served his country in the Vietnam War was honorably discharge in 1969.
Sam married the love of his life Brenda L Scott and they were together for 50 years. Together they raised two children Sam Jr. (Binky) and Marcia (Marcey). Sam loved his family and was a devoted husband and doting father and grandfather.
Sam loved the outdoors, he found joy in fishing, hunting, gardening and caring for his lawn. He also loved helping others, especially spending time talking to his fellow veterans and informing them on how to get their benefits from the government.
Sam was a man of God who loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was a faithful dedicated member of Elm Grove Baptist Church were he served in many positions. Most recently as Chairman of the Deacon Board and Sunday School Teacher of the Senior Class. He would spend hours studying daily. He loved the word of God so much that he attended Greensboro Bible College obtained his degree. He devoted himself to spreading the word, although he was not a preacher he had a preachers heart. Sam will truly be missed by his family, friends, church members and community.
Sam is survived by his wife Brenda L. Moore, Son Samuel Moore Jr "Binky", Daughter Marcia Moore-Lyons(Howard) Grandson Gabriel Lyons, Granddaughter Erin Lyons, Sister Ruth Davis and Brother Charles Moore, two sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
