Obituary

Mr. Darryl Gregory Bell transitioned peacefully from his earthly home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in Reidsville, North Carolina.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC with family visitation one half hour prior to the service.   Public viewing will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be conducted from the Elm Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

Darryl Gregory Bell was born on January 12, 1963 in Reidsville, North Carolina to Virginia Alford Bell and the late Gennie Lee Bell. At an early age, Darryl moved to Long Branch, New Jersey in 1970 with his family and attended Garfield Elementary School and Long Branch Middle School.  He went on to attend and graduate from Long Branch High School, where he excelled in track and field.  After graduation, he attended trade school and acquired his HVAC certification.

Darryl loved fishing and would often take friends and their children out for the day to do the same.  He had a passion for grilling and cooking that could satisfy any taste buds.

In addition to his father, Darryl was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Laura Bell Wilson; maternal grandfather, Robert Alford; uncle, Lewis Alford, III; and granddaughter, Veronica Roach.

Those left to cherish precious memories are:  mother, Virginia Bell, of the home; sisters, Marilyn Herbin and Sabrina Herbin, both of Browns Summit, NC, Teresa Herbin of Greensboro, NC; daughter, Jasmine Felicia Roach of Long Branch, NJ; grandchildren, Nakyia Roach, Azzura Stevens, Everton Stevens, Ahmire Roach and Egypt Roach, all of Long Branch, NJ; aunt, Bertha Alford, of Como, NC; five nephews; three nieces; close friend, Shontez Wilson; and a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. C ovid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
