Mrs. Daisy was born on November 16, 1924 to the late Alfred and Ora Simpson Stokes.
"Mrs. Daisy" as she was affectionately known, loved to work outside tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens. She could make anything grow. All she had to do was "stick-it" in the ground, and it would grow. Her perennial plants came back every year bigger, brighter and multiplying. They have been shared with family, friends, neighbors and some people she didn't even know. She was very energetic until her health began to decline.
At an early age, she and her sisters accepted Christ and joined Trinity Baptist Church, but over the years, she was unable to attend since she did not drive. She attended Caswell County Public Schools and later began working in Textiles.
Preceding her in death were daughter, Nell Jean Slade; son, Harold Lee Graves and Donald Graves; grandchildren, Harold Jr., Crystal Slade, Patricia Slade, Joseph Graves, Brandon Graves; brothers, Alfred Stokes, Jr. (Will), Leroy, George and Charlie Stokes; sisters, Mable Stokes Blackwell, Elsie Stokes Graves, Helen Stokes and Myrtle Stokes Walker.
She is survived by her children, Alfred Earl Graves, Sr., Peggy Graves, James Graves, Jr., Irene Graves Courts, Levon Graves and Ronald Graves; grandchildren, Kenneth Graves, Renee Graves, Tynesha Graves, Tammy G. Martin, Kim Graves, Travis, Erick, Tammy G. Owens, Alfred Graves, Jr., Harvey Slade, Ivan, Ian and Ivie Courts Lamont, Angela and Jami Graves, Keisha, Tasha and Donald Graves, Jr., and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
