Obituary

Mr. Clarence Clifton Johnson went home to his eternal resting place on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Sovah Health in Danville, Virginia.  Funeral arrangements services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Highway 158E, Reidsville, NC with family visitation one hour prior to the service and burial at the Church's cemetery.  Public visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Mr. Clarence "Clifton" Johnson, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born in Rockingham County and was a life-long member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Reidsville, NC.  He attended the local public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.  After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a proud Korean War Veteran.

Clifton was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Alma Johnson; parents, Sidney and Louise Johnson; siblings, O.C. Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Clyde Johnson, Irene Cobb, Marie Totten, Ruth Smith, Howard Johnson, Leroy Johnson, Dwight Johnson, and Rebecca Pinnix; and a great-grandson, Dontrice Fewell.

He is survived by his children, Cathy Jones Johnson, Ferby Johnson (Valerie), and Beverly Wilder (Michael); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sister-in-laws, Elnora Johnson, Georgianna Johnson, and Emily Pemberton; and one brother-in-law, John Henry Carter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Highway 158E, Reidsville, NC 27320.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
