RUFFIN - Mr. Charles Thomas, age 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at his residence.
Public viewing will begin on Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 12 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 at 2 p.m. from the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6038 Park Springs Road, Pelham, NC. The family visitation will take place at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Joan Tatum will preside and Pastor Gregory L. Hopkins, eulogist.
The committal and interment will follow in the Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, NC.
All other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 3275 Quick Road, Ruffin, NC.
Charles was born January 2nd, 1962 in Caswell County, the son of the late James Thomas Jr. and Ruby Jones.
He attended school in Caswell County, graduating Class of 1980 at Bartlett Yancey High School. He was an employee of White Oak Mill for over 25 years.
Charles became a devoted member of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1998. He served as a usher, trustee, and the male chorus. Charles is known for his funny sense of humor and joking.
He was a loving, dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
Charles is survived and will be missed by his beloved wife of 40 years, Peggy Lawary Thomas; 3 children, Kierra Tucker of Danville, VA, Steve Simpson (Erica) and Rodney Simpson (Camaya) of Ruffin, NC; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory to Larry Jones (stepfather), sisters Joann Thomas, Teresa Parks (Reginald), Twann Smart (Michael); brother, Jermain James; sisters-in-law: Lois Weatherford of Greensboro, NC, Betty Pickard (Larry) of Ruffin, NC, Loretta McKeever (Charles) of Philadelphia and Pandora Lawary of Greensboro, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.
