Obituary

Ms. Chantal Percell, age 38, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023 peacefully in her sleep while traveling in Georgia.

Public viewing will begin on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

A celebration of life and remembrance service will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Grooms Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2166 Grooms Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Reverend Dr. J. Rolan Cohen, Sr. will officiate and Elder Robin Bridges will deliver the words of comfort.

Chantal was born on August 29, 1985, in Guilford County to Reverend Dr. Garry L. Percell and Portia Malloy-Neal.

She was married to the late Brandon Mitchell.

She graduated from James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Chantal was a very spiritual person. She loved to garden and had a "green thumb" like both her grandmothers and her father. Chantal began to sing at the age of six, under the guidance of her father. She performed her first public solo performance for her elementary school body, she also sang at church and at family reunions. Chantal was a musician, singer, songwriter, producer, and director with the group Eclectic Dynasty. She was a background singer with Gav Beats the Roses; sung and performed in plays at Dudley and sung with the group Center Stage. She also a part of her brother's band called the Mixx Band. Chantal did her own recording under the name "Chantily Lace". Chantal was known throughout the area as a great songstress. She was a "Daddy's Girl" and was so proud to be following in her Dad's footsteps as a performer. Chantal enjoyed spending time with her children Trista and Tyler, and will be remembered by her family and friends as a person who brought joy and laughter to everyone, she will be greatly missed by all!

Chantal was preceded in death by her husband Brandon Mitchell; her maternal grandmother Susie Morehead Malloy, and her paternal grandmother, Aileen Powell Moore.

Survivors include caring children, Trista Percell and Tyler Percell; loving parents, Rev. Dr. Garry Percell (Janice) and Portia Malloy-Neal; significant other, Corey Sullivan; brothers, Evan Reid and Josef Keon Percell-Galloway (Jessie); aunts, Elder Robin Bridges, Gwen Saunders (Robert), Tina Moore Brown and Gwen Williamson; uncles, Vernon Percell (Fannie) and Gregory Percell; a host of relatives and friends.
