Obituary

REIDSVILLE, NC - Ms. Carolyn Louise Watlington, age 75, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025 at her residence.

Public viewing will begin on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 12 until 6 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 21, 2025 from the Jerusalem United Holy Church, 633 Prince-Williams Street, Reidsville, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the service at 2:30 p.m. Bishop Mary E. Jackson will preside and Reverend Dr. James O. Patrick Jr., eulogist.

The committal and interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

Ms. Carolyn Louise Watlington, daughter of the late Charles "Pap" King and Cora Watlington King, was born on February 18,1950. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Mary Frances Watlington, brother; Alfred L. Watlington, and sister; Bettie J. Watlington. Following an extended period of illness, she departed this life on Saturday afternoon, December 13, 2025.

As a lifelong resident of Reidsville, North Carolina, she attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1968. Prior to her illness, she attended Jerusalem United Holy Church. Carolyn was a former employee of the American Tobacco Company for over 25 years and retired from Commonwealth Brands, Inc. in 2010.

Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She endured many health challenges over the years but maintained a quiet strength that inspired so many others.

Carolyn never lost her sense of humor and will always be remembered by the love and laughter that she shared with her loved ones.

Surviving relatives include her children, Gerald, Devette and Daryl Watlington; grandchildren, Brittish Watlington, Deairyl W. Miller, Alaisia Watlington and Christian Babayemi; sisters, Ophelia Brown (Nathan), Clara W. Thompson, and Janice Smith; brothers, James Watlington, Curtis Watlington (Patricia), and William Turner (Sharon); aunts; Helen Johnson, Ollie Henderson, and Fannie Watlington; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives; special friends; Mrs. Jann Moore, Ms. Earlene Johnson, and Mrs. Daisy Price.
