Obituary

Mrs. Carolyn Sue Scales Cummings passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Annie Penn Hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 20, 2017 at 1: 00 p.m.  at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be one half prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m at McLaurin Funeral Home.

Carolyn was born March 14, 1955 to the late Galloway and Mary Emma Lynn Scales, in Reidsville, NC. She attended the Rockingham County schools.

She later married the love of her life, Delma Cummings and to this union they had four beautiful children. She loved taking care of her family, fishing, cooking and talking with her friends on the phone.

Carolyn was baptized by her brother, the late Pastor Elder James Arthur Scales, in Southern Pines, NC. She later joined the Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Family. Along with her husband Delma, she was very active in her church. Carolyn was the president of the Youth and Young Adult Choir. She loved working with the young folk. This was her ministry; nurturing, teaching, assisting and accompanying the choir on singing engagements to various churches, group activities, picnics and trips.

Carolyn enjoyed helping others, and assisting where she was needed. She will be missed by many.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter; Susan Marie Rucker, sister; Bernice Lindsey, brothers; James Scales, Percy Lee Scales and Willie Scales.

She leaves to cherish her memory, beloved husband; Delma Lee Cummings, Daughter; Sharon Denise Scales, Greensboro, NC, Sons; Roy Cummings (Erica), and Elmer Ray Cummings, grandson; Quenton Scales, all of the home, grandson; DeVonte Lemons, Eden, NC, Sisters; Willie Mae Ferrell, Eden, NC, Mary Scales (Thomas Watlington), Greensboro, NC, Step sisters; Sharon Graves, Pelham, NC, Debra Ann Simpson, Pelham, NC, Ella Mullins, Greensboro, NC, step brother; Johnnny Simpson, Pelham, NC, Sister-in-law; Bishop Connie Scales, Greensboro, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends.
