Obituary

Mr. Bruce Orlando Davis passed on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Brookdale Northwest in Greensboro, North Carolina.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Bruce Orlando Davis was born on November 27, 1962 to the late Eldress Susie Marie Harrison Nicholson and Jimmy Kelly.  In addition to his mother, he was blessed to have the late Douglas Davis in his life.

At a tender age, Bruce developed a relationship with God and was baptized at Elm Grove Baptist Church. There he was an active member of the Sunday School, Boy Scouts, Young Adult Choir, and Young Adult Usher Board.

Educated in the Rockingham County School System, he graduated from Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1981.  After graduation, he attended Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina on a basketball scholarship.  Until his illness, he was a faithful employee of various group homes in Burlington, North Carolina.

Bruce's love for music was demonstrated through his angelic singing voice.  He was also a writer, drummer, and self-taught pianist.  His passion for leveraging music to spread the goodness of God led him to the Bethel Male Chorus where he was a member for many years.  His laughter, jokes, and ability to recall memories into story time was priceless.

He leaves to cherish precious memories:  sons, Bruce LaRonde' Davis of Atlanta, GA, Zildjian LaTodd Davis of Atlanta, GA, and Bruce Orlando Davis, II of Greensboro, NC; one grandson, Logan Fludd of Greensboro, NC; one brother, LayaRundy Kelly (Courtney) of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Courtney Kelly of Atlanta, GA, Trina Kelly Miller (Maurice) of Charlotte, NC, and Lisa Kelly of Charlotte, NC; special Aunt, Cecelia H. Blackwell of Browns Summit, NC; special cousin/brother/friend, Todd V. Blackwell, Sr. of Sudbury, MA; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
