GREENSBORO - Mr. Brent M. Blackwell, age 44, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Wesley Long Hospital.
Public viewing will begin on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 12 until 6 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsvlle, NC.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2025 at 2 p.m. from the Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, 600 McWalker Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Melvin T. McLean, Jr., eulogist.
The committal and interment will follow in the Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.
All other times, the family will receive friends at the home beginning on Thursday, October 2nd through Saturday, October 4th from 3 to 7 p.m. only.
Brent Major Blackwell was born on May 12th, 1981, in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Hershel Moses Blackwell and Ruth Maynard Blackwell.
On Tuesday, October 1st, 2025, he departed this life to be with the Lord at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Brent attended Rockingham County Public Schools and was a graduate of Reidsville High School's class of 1999. He was employed by United Healthcare for 21 years and was a loved coworker and friend to so many.
Brent married the love of his life, Amanda Tinsley Blackwell on September 25, 2004. If you knew Brent well, you know that he adored Amanda and his commitment to this union was one of his proudest accomplishments. In 2006, Brent and Amanda welcomed their first child, Bryson Blackwell, their beloved son. 4 years later, they welcomed a sweet baby girl, Jurnee Blackwell affectionately known as his "Peach".
Brent was a faithful and loyal member of Benaja Mt. Zion Holiness Church of God, Inc. and was a part of the Sunshine Band, the Junior Choir, the Male Choir, the Mass Choir and the Praise Team. His love for sharing the gospel through song didn't stop there as he embarked upon
becoming a recording artist and released his first album "In the Key of B Major" on August 23rd, 2021. Brent was also a member of Kings & Priests United, and M.B.A. In recent years, Brent served as the Director of Vacation Bible School and assisted with the audio/video ministry at his
home church.
Brent was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Blackwell and mother, Ruth Blackwell; nephew, Eric Moore.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, wife, Amanda Blackwell, son, Bryson Blackwell, daughter, Jurnee Blackwell of the home; two brothers, Hershel K. Blackwell (Betty) and Jerome Blackwell, both of Reidsville, NC; sister in love, Nicole Willis (Brandon) of Grovetown, GA, aunt, Bertha Stubblefield (Boyd), uncles, Russell Blackwell and George Blackwell; nieces, Tyrell Singletary (Michael), Haleigh and Myranda Willis; nephews, Stanley Rankin (Delta), Byron Moore (JaWanda) and Dominique Blackwell (Tiffany); host of great nieces and nephews; god-sisters, Kimberly Williams, Lisa Murray (Cecil), Janice Smith and Debra Slade.
